That was why I would go exploring or try and bring in a bounty every now and again. Combat in Elite Dangerous is really exciting and something you want to try and avoid until you have the right kind of upgrades and weapons on your ship. One time I saw a battle of in the distance and decided to go in and try and get the bounty for myself. You do have AI assist for flying if you want, but for battles, I think you are better taking full control.
The combat is a lot of fun and quite challenging too. It does take a while to get used to, but there is no denying that the space battles are a huge part of the appeal of Elite Dangerous. I just played the game all on my own, but you can play with other players if you want.
You can trade, deal, fight and explore if that is what you want. I am sure the game would be a lot of fun if you had a fellow spaceship exploring the galaxy with you and watching your back as you do.
